Prospect Park’s New “Black Lagoon” Ready to Attract Creature
After a summer of preparation, Prospect Park officials say the Park’s new “Lagoon,” on the southern shore of the lake along East Drive, is finally ready to—hopefully—attract a tenant.
Due to project delays, however, park staff are worried that it may be too late to attract a Creature before cold weather sets in.
“Gilled humanoid lagoon creatures hibernate in the mud at the bottom of their lagoons,” explained Prospect Park Aquatic Acquisitions Director Apeloko Okafor. “Therefore if no creature has moved in by late November, we may be out of luck until the spring.”
Okafor is searching for hearty men and women volunteers for some chilly “sunbathing” in swimsuits along the water’s edge, a creature-luring practice that has proven successful for other lagoons. Contact the Aquatic Acquisitions Department for details. Warm beverages will be provided.
